Here are some How to’s, but remember there are no rules. Use it the way that works best for you.
- Prepare to have fun. The learning guide is interactive and relational. You will not be bored and neither will your child.
- Download and print a “Day” of the book of the Bible you are learning with your child.
- Scan the the learning guide to see if you need any material or preparation for the session. Preparation time is kept to a minimum so that most of your time is spent with your child.
- Carve out 10-20 minutes of high impact time to go through the learning guide with your child. The guides are designed for three studies a week, but go at your own pace.
- Get a copy of the scriptures for your child. The learning guide is based on the New International Reader’s Version, although other translations can be used as well.
- Make your way through the learning guide with your child. Although you will probably desire to add your own style, insights and methods as you get comfortable with the format, at first you can just relax because every word is scripted for you. You are free to focus on your child.
- Take advantage of everyday teachable moments and activities. Check out Deuteronomy 6:4-8.
